Warren M. Goodman In prison for the last 15 years serving a life sentence… for a murder he did not commit. YOU can HELP free this innocent man from prison. “Warren Goodman: He Could Have Been Your Friend” The Case Against Him Since 1994, Warren has been serving 19 years to life at the Soledad Correctional Training Facility for a murder he did not commit. There was no physical evidence or DNA at the scene tying him to the murder; his conviction was based solely on the testimony of two witnesses who lied under oath at the time of the LA Rampart Scandal. Early in his trial, it was obvious that there were huge holes in the case starting with a weak public defense team.
He was offered a plea bargain that would have guaranteed his freedom in seven years. He didn’t take it! Why? Because he did not want to confess to a crime he did not commit. So he sits in a jail cell, waiting for justice.
His Background Warren Meredith Goodman was born to Don and Marge Goodman in 1961 and grew up in Inglewood, California. His father died in 1978 and his older brother Terry passed away last year; his younger sister Dawn made Warren a proud uncle a few years ago. Warren had a normal happy childhood, becoming fast friends with David Casparian in 1972. They attended school together through high school, and lost contact in the early ‘90s when David moved out of state. During college, Warren studied law and became a paralegal. He worked at several law firms, but never lost sight of his dream to own his own practice. The two friends reconnected in 1999 when David learned of Warren’s plight. For nearly a decade, David has led the cause to petition his best friend’s release.
Who He is Today Warren has been a model prisoner since his incarceration. He holds a job in janitorial service, where he remains steadfast in keeping a strong work ethic. He also volunteers in the chapel and the library, and takes self-help classes whenever possible. He recently took the remaining college classes needed to complete his AA degree. All those who know and love him would attest that his character is of the highest level of integrity and compassion. He is an inspiration to all and his spirit and character remain true. Despite his current situation, he never misses an opportunity to be a good friend by reaching out to someone in need of encouragement.
How You Can Help Bring Justice * Investigate * Volunteer * Create Awareness *
There is no doubt regarding Warren’s innocence, but there is much doubt regarding a justice system that swears to protect the innocent and put true criminals away. In the case of Warren Goodman the system has failed on both of these points. An innocent man languishes in prison while a murderer is no doubt quite proud that he beat the system. This tragedy could happen to anyone – your friend, your relative… It could even happen to YOU. But it happened to our friend Warren, and he’s long overdue for the attention and support that will allow him to go free.
